Sunday 3rd March 2019
We departed on time today and were amazed that the journey only took 1 hour and 4 minutes thanks to a tail wind! More time for us to spend in Norway!
Welcome to Bergen! Are you sure this is Bergen? Yes, quite sure, we've been before!
Out and about exploring the local area. Plenty of snow up in the mountains with some more forecast, but delightful down in the town as you can see below. Dinner this evening followed by fitting of boots and helmets, ready for our first day of skiing tomorrow - how exciting!
Monday 4th March 2019
Today was our first day of skiing and there was lots of fun to be had. Most groups started off lower down the mountain where there was a great nursery slope and 'magic carpet' to get the ski week started. After lunch every group made the journey up to the next part of the mountain via the 4-person chairlift. We were impressed with the progress of everyone today! P.s. we are having some issues with wi-fi and have therefore decided that the blogg will be photo only as video processing is taking far too long - sorry folks!
After dinner we all went to the new Voss swimming centre; everyone had lots of fun on the challenge floats and slide. They were truly worn out by the time we returned and it is now 10:15pm here in Voss, Norway and almost all rooms are quiet and the children are asleep - plenty of rest required for our skiing tomorrow!
Tuesday 5th March 2019
Its been another great day of skiing here in Voss! Yet again the ski instructors and school staff have been delighted with the progress everyone has made with their skiing. All groups ventured up the mountain at the start of the day and have well and truly mastered the two types of ski lifts we have been presented with so far; T-bars ski lifts and higher up the mountain for some groups tomorrow!
This evening we settled down as a group and watched a movie - the rest was very much needed after our first few days of skiing! Preparations are now underway for our talent show on Thursday; each room has to offer something for the 'variety performance' and they are all very excited at the prospect. Rather wished we'd told them tomorrow as they are well underway with preparations this evening!
Wednesday 6th March 2019
We had some fresh snow overnight and for the most part of the morning which was a pleasant sight; it was like a winter wonderland here in Voss. To enlarge images, click on them.

Meal times have been popular and the children are appreciating the need to eat well in order to keep up the energy for skiing. Spaghetti Bolognese (as well as some alternatives) was served for dinner this evening!
This evening we are having a quiz night with teams competing for a chance to visit our reward table on Friday evening. We have also just announced our first 'crazy ski hat' awards. Two people were chosen based on their resilience and perseverance during their skiing sessions so far. The first crazy ski hat awards go to Tilly & George (click image to enlarge). They now have the opportunity to wear the hats as much as possible tomorrow! More crazy ski hat awards after tomorrow 's skiing!
Thursday 7th March 2019
We were thrilled when we woke up this morning to find that there had been around 12cm of snowfall and it continued throughout the morning whilst skiing. We had great fun on the slopes and the picture below reinforces why we go to Voss - it's picturesque and we almost have the place to ourselves! .
Our talent show turned into a variety performance; it was great to sit back and be entertained even when one group were impersonating the teacher's ...... hhhum ....I mean judges! Great team effort and an enjoyable evening. It was also an opportunity to wish John a very happy 12th birthday; I think he thought we hadn't remembered as we left it until the evening time to present him with his birthday cake.
This evening our crazy hat ski awards were presented to Eve and Seb. Well done to you both!
Friday 8th March 2019
It was our final day of skiing today and it has been glorious! A cold wind at the start of the morning but that soon cleared and conditions have been perfect for skiing. The children have had so much fun!
Following our final day of skiing we gathered for our rewards evening. The skiing instructors joined us for dinner and then presented each member of their group with a ski award based on their demonstrated skiing skills during assessments earlier today.
This evening we presented the crazy hat ski awards for the final time this week; they were awarded to Rhianna & Dan for their consistent effort, resilience and good team spirit which was demonstrated throughout the week.
Everyone has packed their cases and we are ready to leave in the morning. We have now settled down for the night. Final update will come tomorrow morning prior to departing Voss.
Saturday 9th March 2019
We awoke to yet another covering of snow this morning (around 7cm) as you can see in the pictures below. We will be departing around 9.00am and heading to Bergen where we have booked some time in the Vilvite Science museum as shown in the images below too!
