Wildlife Garden Makeover
We are so grateful for the recent work which has been undertaken by volunteers to help improve our wildlife garden.
Our wildlife garden was becoming a dark and gloomy place with the trees starving the ground, pond and school of much needed light. With the help of the Tynedale Rotary Club and some talented parents we have started to revitalise the garden to allow us to make more of this secret wildlife area. |
Tom Richardson and Duncan McQueen (Dads at our school) have felled some conifers and native trees which had outgrown the space. Local
members of the Rotary Club helped us to clear the long borders in front of the Dining Hall window, dismantle the shed and compost bins and tidy the area.

Timber .....
Happy frogs in our pond once again!
We must have spotted at least 25 frogs once the area had been cleared.
Next steps ...
We can now re-site the compost bins and shed so they are more useable. We shall renovate the pond with another talented parent Richard Thew, to make it more accessible for pond dipping with a dipping platform and a hibernaculum for hibernating mammals.
We can re-site the bird boxes and also design and build some bird feeders to place in front of the Dining Hall window.
We are improving the fence around the garden to keep our rabbits out and then the planting can begin with bulbs, shrubs and flowers for our nectar loving insects.
If you have any ideas about what you would like to see in the garden, get in touch.
