Peace, love and understanding (2014 theme) - Art Competition
This November, children took part in an Art Department competition to create a Peace poster. The theme of the competition is 'Peace, love and understanding' and it has been organised by the Lions club which is an international organisation. The competition is taking place in many different countries. The entries were judged in school and the winning poster has been put forward to the regional competition with the winner of this one being entered into the national competition and then further internationally.
As you can imagine, it is an exciting opportunity as well as enabling our fantastic artists to show off their talents. Children could select the media they wanted to work with e.g. pencil, watercolour paint, charcoal, fabric etc. Whatever the material it had to be flexible so it could be rolled, therefore it wasn't allowed to be 3 dimensional or framed. It also wasn't allowed to have anything glued, stapled or attached to the artwork. The use of lettering or numbering is was not permitted.
All entries from children across all four year groups in school were showcased in school and special guests from the Lions Club were welcomed and handed out the prizes for selected entries. The artwork is fantastic and all of the children who entered should be very proud of their achievements.
A special well done to our school winner Harry Weatherhead in Year 8; his artwork was chosen as the school entry and will be entered into the regional competition.
