School Activities - December 2013
Children from Year 7 and 8 were out of school earlier this term making visits to support their work in Humanities. Year 7 visited Prudhoe Castle as part of their work on the medieval period and Year 8 visited Killhope to explore the life of lead miners during the industrialisation of the country.
Year 7 visited the Queen’s Hall in October to hear a talk from John Boyne author of “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas” and Year 5 and visited author Jonathan Meres who wrote the “World of Norm” series of books. A group of 8 Y7 and Y8 pupils attended the Kids Lit Quiz in Newcastle with Mrs Nohl. Although not winners they competed well and enjoyed the experience. Y8 participated in ‘Star Student’, a session led by Northumbria University designed to introduce them to higher education. |

Our first edition of the Corbridge Chronicle was issued at the end of October by Mrs Hamilton and her editorial team. On Children in Need Day the school held a Bake Sale to raise money and a choir from school sang in a BBC concert for Children in Need at Trinity Methodist Church. Members of our choir also entertained late night shoppers in Corbridge on 9th December with a selection of Christmas songs and carols. Our Christmas Carol Service held in St Andrew’s Church in Corbridge was a particular highlight this year. In the beautiful surroundings of the church the voices of the children, their playing and readings lit up the evening and created a lovely atmosphere in preparation for Christmas. |
