Where Did All The Animals Go?
7MB were incredibly lucky to work with the artist Jane McCracken on a collaborative project with the Great North (Hancock) Museum and the Born Free Foundation. The session ran throughout the morning and pupils were introduced to the incredible animals of Madagascar. Their task was to use biro pens to sketch different mammals, reptiles, birds and insects. Jane was on hand virtually to guide the pupils through their drawings and give advice on how to improve their work.
Once finished the pictures will be used by Jane to make a mural for the Great North (Hancock) Museum which will be on display in July 2021. We will also be sharing our art with other schools around the world. Much of the wildlife on Madagascar is endangered and the aim of the project is to raise awareness of the causes of biodiversity loss such as poaching and habitat destruction but also how we can take action to reduce these losses and possibly prevent some animals from going extinct. The pupils learned that Art is an incredibly powerful form of communication.
