Corbridge Middle School ski visit to Voss, Norway.
Saturday 01 February 2014 @ 9.15pm local time - We have arrived in Voss and all is well. Other than a very turbulent take off from Newcastle airport, the journey to Voss was pleasant.
We arrived at the youth hostel and were greeted with a warming evening meal. Making up the beds was eventful but rooms are looking good. Children have all been kitted out with ski boots and have had a final briefing about tomorrow. Plenty of snow reported up the mountain, so we are looking forward to a good day of skiing.
Sunday 02 February 2014 @ 4.30pm local time - just returned back after a hard day of skiing.

The day started with an early wakeup at 7:00am and a few sleepy heads before breakfast!(I wonder why!) We then had a filling breakfast- cereals, drinks, toast and Norwegian delicacies! Everybody made great skiing progress in the first two hours before a well earned lunch! The place itself had amazing scenery and a cafe, with a beautiful view of Voss itself! The final two hours of the first day we started to work on the more advanced slopes, therefore a ski lift was used! Everyone coped really well on the slopes and had a great time!
Monday 03 February 2014 @ 8.15pm local time - returned from an evening at 'Voss Kulturhus' where we watched a cultural video about all the activities (and extreme sports) which take place in Voss throughout the year.

Everyone had a great day skiing, learning new skills and perfecting their technique. Some people even conquered the 'Big Dipper of Doom' which is a challenging part of the Hangur run. One group even connected to a new ski system on the other side of the mountain! At lunchtime people had hot drinks and soups to warm them up before another two hours of skiing, later coming back down to the town in a cable car. After a spaghetti bolognese dinner we headed out to the Voss Kulturhus, and saw a cultural video about the different seasons and all the activities and sports done throughout the year. Later in the evening we had a hat presentation where two of our group won hats for improving skills and great teamwork. Well done to the winners and see below for pictures. Guess the gorilla!
Tuesday 04 February 2014 @ 9.00pm local time - returned from an evening visit to Voss Folk Museum.

Today was a great day once again. It was hard for everyone as the wind was very strong... Isabel even had to hug the sign post! This morning we were all wondering if the cable car (dinglo and danglo) would be open as it was very windy. At the top we were told we would have to make our way to the other side of the mountain, so we did; by skiing. We had our lunch at a nice restaurant and then continued skiing for the rest of the afternoon. We all learnt a lot of new skills! We have uploaded some more pictures and a couple of videos!
Wednesday 05 February 2014 @ 8.15pm local time - Our talent show has now finished and we have just completed a quiz!
Updated by Jonathan Engleby and Daniel Bockett.
Today, we went to the top of the world and went on the big dipper which is a steep slope which has lots of different bumps and hills you can fly down, and then followed on down to the cafeteria/cable stop. We went on the t-bar to the top of the mountain where the chair lift is and then took the express route to Slettefjell and then on a second T-bar to the top of Sletterfjell. We came down the very windy slope and then had lunch. On the other side of the mountain the snow was very powdery therefore making it easier to ski on all the way down to the bottom where the family run is located leading down to the chair lift. We had great fun on a troll hunt, skiing through the woods for the last half hour! We have just had a really good laugh at all the talent people have shown in the talent show. Well done to our funny hat winners (pictured below) - good improvement throughout the day with ski skills!
Thursday 06 February 2014 @ 7.30pm local time - preparations are being made for our film and pizza night - update was supposed to follow but film ended later than expected. Enjoy the photos and a few video clips.
Friday 07 February 2014 @ 11.00pm local time.

Today was our last day of ski school. It was a great day to end the week! Most of us got the opportunity to use poles while skiing, as you can see in some of the pictures, which was very exciting for us all. The foucus for our group was an advanced turn, called carving turns. There was also a birthday in our group (see pictures) so we shared a delicious brownie birthday cake! In the evening we walked to another hotel, where we had an awards ceremony with all the instructors and received certificates for our skiing skills; we also had a fun disco to end the fantastic week of skiing and it has been a week of great fun!
Saturday 08 February 2014 @ 11.50am local time
Children and staff are all packed and we are debriefing our week in Voss. It has been a wonderful visit and the children have all really enjoyed themselves. We look forward to our arrival back in Newcastle - please remember that we are expected to land at 6.10pm. See you soon!
