Homework
After establishing the views of parents, pupils and teachers it became very clear that there were lots of different views to take into account: too much is given, too little is given, it’s not challenging enough, it’s too challenging etc. Our pupils are all different and so are their relationships with their parents and so the response to homework varies in each household.
We have redrafted our policy to ensure a consistent approach to homework throughout the school. We want to ensure that teachers, parents and pupils have clear understanding regarding expectations for homework and that all are fully aware of the role they play with regard to homework.
Your child will receive Numeracy and Literacy homework each week and this will come home in their class books. There will also be the choice of enrichment homework. Pupils must complete one of these each half term but they are welcome to do more! This homework may be open ended and may provide the opportunity for family learning. These opportunities are intended to inspire and motivate home learning. We wish to encourage pupils to pursue knowledge independently and imaginatively. Work could be linked to any curriculum area; Science, Geography, History, Art, DT etc. It could take many forms: completing a piece of research, building a model castle, creating a recipe, making a model for science, creating a piece of art etc. The homework will be set at the start of each half term and details of the homework will be available in the classroom as well as published below on our school website.
